How to download and install .NET Framework 3.5 in Windows 10 by means of the system

Install .NET Framework 3.5 you can without resorting to official download pages by simply including the corresponding component of Windows 10. (If you have already tried this option but get an error message, also described below the solution).

To do this, go to control panel — programs and features. Then click on the menu item «Enable or disable Windows features».

Check .NET Framework 3.5 and click «OK». The system automatically sets the specified component. Then it makes sense to restart the computer and ready: if some program required to run these libraries, and it should start without related errors.

In some cases .NET Framework 3.5 is not installed and reports any errors with different codes. In most cases this is due to the lack of update 3005628, download which you can on the official page https://support.microsoft.com/ru-ru/kb/3005628 (download for x86 and x64 systems are closer to the end of the page). Additional ways to correct errors you may find in the end of this guide.

If for some reason you require an official installer .NET Framework 3.5, you can download it from the page http://www.microsoft.com/ru-ru/download/details.aspx?id=21 (we should not ignore that Windows 10 is not in the list of supported systems, all successfully installed, if you use the Windows compatibility mode 10).

Installation .NET Framework 4.5

As you may have noticed in the previous section instructions in Windows 10 by default enabled feature .NET Framework 4.6, which is in turn compatible with versions 4.5, 4.5.1, and 4.5.2 (might replace them). If for some reason on your system this item is disabled, you can just enable it for installation.

Also you can download these components separately as offline installers from official website:

  • http://www.microsoft.com/ru-ru/download/details.aspx?id=44927 — .NET Framework 4.6 (provides compatibility with 4.5.2, 4.5.1, 4.5).
  • http://www.microsoft.com/ru-ru/download/details.aspx?id=30653 — .NET Framework 4.5.

If for some reason the proposed installation methods do not work, then there are some additional opportunities to rectify the situation, namely:

Informal way to download .Net Framework 3.5 and 4.6 and install it

Many users face the problem that .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.5 (4.6) that are installed through the Windows components 10, or from Microsoft’s website refuses to install itself onto your computer.

In this case, you can try another way — Missed Features Installer 10, which was an ISO image that contains the components present in previous versions of the OS, but missing in Windows 10. Thus, judging by the reviews, installation .NET Framework works.

Just download Missed Features Installer from the official site http://mfi-project.weebly.com/ or http://mfi.webs.com/. Note: built-in SmartScreen filter blocks the download, but as far as I can tell, the downloaded file is clean.

Mount the image in the system (in Windows 10 you can do this simply double click on it) and run the file MFI10.exe. After accepting the license terms, you will see a screen installer.
